Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut DLC: Fix or Fail?

Bioware game-oriented company

WARNING: If you haven't played or finished Mass Effect 3 (If this applies to you I can't help but wonder why you're even reading about the DLC),then stay away from this review. SPOILERS AHEAD. You've been warned....  Say what you will about the ending of Mass Effect 3, Bioware just might have earned themselves a second chance from a few thousand, make that tens of thousands, of people who were upset with the endings of Mass Effect 3's endings, which didn't do what was promised. Whether because Bioware truly cares about their buyers, or if it's purley a financial reason, or a mix of both, Bioware stepped up and made things right when they didn't have to. At the very least, that deserves some kuddos, even from those swearing off Bioware and EA for life.

Max Payne 3

JBLivin
Max Payne 3 Good Ol' Max is Back

Max Payne 3. True to the name, this character has been through some things. Max Payne 3 takes place 9 years after the events of its predecessor and poor ol' Max is more or less the same tormented man struggling with the past as he succumbs to his inner turmoil over the loss of his family. You'll be happy to know that while Max Payne 3's protagonist is the same guy at his core, that doesn't mean he's static, and neither is the gripping story. Max Payne 3 is a dark, disturbing tale and you'll want stick it out with this guy 'till the very end.

Amazing Spider-Man

The Amazing Spider-Man Movie or Game?

The Amazing Spider-Man. Nothing like a good game to get people ramped up for the movie, which I'm sure will be pretty good, at least better than the catastrophe that was Spider-Man 3. Oh wait, this really isn't a good game. The Amazing Spider-Man game will help at the box office though, as I'm sure there will be plenty of "You have the game? Forget the game, the movie is so much better". And then you will if you haven't. Of course, die-hard fans of Spidey will want to get their hands on this game anyway. And that's fine, but for many, this just might be a game to ignore. Read my review and decide for yourselves.

Lollipop Chainsaw Massacre

Lollipop Chainsaw

Lollipop Chainsaw is not a game for Daddy’s little girl, not matter what people say. You play as a lollipop-sucking, chainsaw wielding, cheer-chanting cheerleader named Julia, who is, as any quick Google search will show, a zombie killer, or “hunter” as it’s called in the game. The player is tasked with irradiating the town that’s having a bit of an infestation, problem is, rat killer is in abundance and yet, for some reason, stores just don’t seem to carry zombie traps, repellants, or poisons. Figures.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3

Modern warfare 3

Modern warfare 3 is a spectacular shooter and is a FPS that demands respect, and yes, that includes its rival Battlefield 3. Though Modern Warfare 3 has an older engine, it still manages to deliver stunning graphics and game mechanics that work in an intricate and extremely satisfying way; and hey, it's what the franchise is known for. Is it realistic for one soldier to take on an entire platoon on his own? Absolutely not! Should you care? NO! This game is about FUN, and while it's realistic characteristics and elements can be downright creepy in just how much realism it throws at you, the developers know that their fans want and expect. So it may not be "real" to take on 30+ enemies, but darn it, it's the fun that counts. And you will have fun.

Battlefield 3

Battlefield 3 Mission Briefing

Battlefield 3 has a solid single player experience, and yet, I found it ultimately underwhelming when all was said and done. Battlefield 3 boast perhaps the best online shooter for multiplayer, and the single player falls short compared to campaigns of other shooters such as Battlefield's nemesis Call of Duty Modern Warfare.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Overview

For years, Call of Duty has set the pace for engaging, action-packed, and immersive FPS gaming. And whether you're a die hard fan, or a Battlefield crusader, you can't deny the impact the franchise has had on the industry. As you can imagine, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 does away with the franchise's focus on history, instead opting for its own "what if"?"alternate reality take of the near future.

Left 4 Dead

Left 4 Dead

Left 4 Dead doesn't really have a story behind it other than it's more or less the end of the world and most of civilization are flesh-eating mindless zombies. Instead of a story mode or campaign, the game features four separate Scenarios that act as movies in a zombie-movie parody that works very well in the game. If killing zombies is your thing, check out some great deals.

Gears of War

Gears of War Eat It

Gears of War. A third person shooter nearly every serious gamer has played at one time or another. Gears of War came out way back in 2006 when the xbox 360 was still a relatively new console, but to soon become known as the must-have shooter, even comparing against the flagship of xbox, Halo. Gears of war added some new and innovative elements to the shooter, and changed the way we view action games forever. If you're a serious gamer, and shooting monsters on the verge of annihilating the human race on a faraway planet is your kind of game; and who doesn't want to play a game to save the human race, Gears of War is the game for you and a must-buy for the 360.

10 reasons to buy Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Here are my top ten reasons why you should buy Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

1. Super Smash Bros. Brawl's Addictive gameplay.

Whether you're a casual gamer or in it for the online street-cred, Super Smash Bros. Brawl has something for everyone. The gameplay is addictive. It's easy to pick up and start wailing on the computer or a friend. Players will soon discover their favorite characters, master their moves and combos, and really dish out the pain in the most satisfying way I can think of. Because that's the premise of Super Smash Bros. Brawl. You control a classic character just about every gamer knows and loves, such as Mario or Link, and fight it out on a stage. The goal? Smash your opponent off the stage.

Mario Galaxy

Super Mario Galaxy

Super Mario Galaxy for the Nintendo Wii is, in my opinion, the spiritual successor to Super Mario 64. The controls of Super Mario Galaxy are superb. Finally a game that's playable for the Wii. It's tight and responsive. The best part is, most, if not all the unique movements and motions required of the player work in a satisfying way. This is the first game in a while where the developer's aren't in over their heads as far as the limitations of the Wii and its motion-sense technology. The controls will seldom leave you frustrated as it integrates with the properties and characteristics of a level design and its mechanics in a way that feels seamless and natural. It's effortless and just about anyone can pick up the controllers and get rolling. You'll be playing most of the game with a grin on your face.

Halo 3

Halo 3: PensieveHalo 3 Campaign

The first thing I'll discuss with Halo 3 is the campaign. I was a bit disappointed with how short the main story was. It's nine chapters, or levels, one of which, I, along with many others apparently, found annoying and didn't really enjoy it. So about eight of the nine levels are what you'd expect out of a Halo game. But if there's only nine levels, Bungie should have made absolutely sure that each and every level, nay, each and every second of the game holds the player by the throat.

Fable 2 buy it?

Fable 2

Fable 2.You either hate it, or you love it. And from what I can see, Fable 2 seems to have just as many people who love the game as there are people who hate the game. Dollar for dollar, Fable 2 was a success, despite the haters. I suppose in the end, players vote with their wallets. So, is Fable 2 worth your hard earned cash? My answer may surprise some of you, especially those who either love or hate the game. The short answer, for me, is a definite yes, but not what you may think. WHA? hear me out folks. Fable 2 is a fairly solid game in my opinion, and you should go out and buy it. Now is the time. It's an older game now, and the prices I've seen for it recently are a good deal. If I had known how broken the game was prior to purchasing the thing when it first came out for about 60 bucks, I would have waited for the price to go down. So why wouldn't I want to buy Fable 2 for the full 60 dollars plus tax? Here's twenty reasons why along with five saving graces that, hopefully, will encourage you to buy the game for what it sells for today .

Tekken 6 the Good the Bad the Crazy

The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6

Tekken 6 is a fighter just about any gamer is at least familiar with. Known for it's complex fighting moves and combinations, Tekken 6 has received mixed reviews. So what's the good? What's the bad? Here's my take on Tekken 6.

Red Dead Redemption

Red Dead Redemption and the Dying West

Read Dead Redemption is one of the best open world video games I've ever played and probably the best western game ever created . The voice acting is superb. There are no over the top western stereotypes, which can be annoying in other games. The characters are alive and dynamic. I'd go as far to say it's almost creepy how life-like they are. From subtly shifts in weight, eye movement, differences in the pitch and tone of voice, and the natural, realistic movement, this world is believable.

Skyward Sword

Is Skyward Sword the Best Zelda Game?

What can i say to the game reviewers who claimed it's even better than Ocarina of Time? YOU'RE LIERS! YOU'RE LYING TO ME. YOU'RE LYING TO OTHER CONSUMERS. YOU'RE LYING TO YOURSELVES! Skyard Sword is fun to play. When the controls work. Which, unfortunately, is seldom. If it worked the way it was meant to, I'd even prefer it over button mashing. The visuals are about as good as it's gonna get with what the Wii can do, though I do think it's a bit of a step back from Twilight Princess. Link is just as awesome as he always is, and the way the player controls his movement is fun and innovative. Again, when the controls actually WORK. So there are plenty of reviews out there praising this game in just about every possible way for just about any mediocre reason. I'm convinced those reviewers need to take off their Zelda gaggles and call this game for what it is: Average for a Zelda game. There are many things wrong with this game. Here are my top ten reasons why Skyward Sword doesn't live up to the hype.

Mass Effect 3

JBLivin

"Ah, yes. 'Reapers'".

Mass Effect 3 is a good game. I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed Mass Effect 3. There's been a lot of backlash with Mass Effect 3 . I'm sure most of you know, the vast majority of players were unhappy with Mass Effect 3's ending. And yes, I am one of them. But more on that later.

Skyrim

Estatua de TalosFUS RO DA!!!!!!!

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. I'll try to keep this review as spoiler-free as I can. First off. I cannot express just how happy I was to read into all the hype and promises about how great this game will be. But to have it exceed all expectations, I can say to you, the consumer, the level of elation transcends anything I can describe. Bethesda delivers. As you can see, I love Skyrim and I'm sure you will too.

Skyrim: The Legend

Enter the main character of the game: The Prisoner a.k.a The Dragonborn, Dovakiin. What the heck does that even mean? Play Skyrim and find out. It's Bethesda folks, they have a thing for prisoners. The game is set 200 years after The Elder Skrolls IV Oblivion. The Northern province of Skyrim is divided between the Empire Loyalists, who wish to stay under imperial rule, and the Stormcloak Rebels who's goal is, ultimately, independence from the Empire. Add an uneasy truce between the Empire and the Aldmeri Dominion. And finally, a prophesy stating the dragons will return and bring about the end of days. And of course, that prophesy is being fulfilled in the mist of the turmoil consuming the northern province of Skyrim. THAT'S THE STORY YOU'RE DELVING INTO. What more could you want? Well, in an industry that continues to grow and innovate new technology, there are times when the story, as amazing as, say, the graphics and overall gameplay mechanics are concerned, just let the player down and is uninteresting, or doesn't make sense, or fails to deliver. NOT IN SKYRIM. But you need more than a well thought out and developed plot right? Of course you do.
